inter-staff space
Hi,
MuseScore: 1.1 r 4611 on Win-7
I am a brand new MeseScore user. I have watched the 10-step getting started videos and have a question. Staff, system, lyric, etc spacing is demonstrated. I can not get the staff spacing or font spacing to work. If I open a score and go to
Style -> Edit General Style -> Page
There are controls for many spacing values. I have tried adding small and extreme amounts of space to staff spacing and lyric spacing but when I click "Apply" nothing happens. I have tried selecting the first measure; the first note; and, making sure I only have one score open but Apply does nothing. I have tried this on a brand new score and one with only a couple of notes
I am a newbie and am probably doing something trivial. Your ideas are welcome.

There are "display refresh" problems still in MuseScore and this may be why you are having problems.
After making the changes, go to File>reload. You will be prompted to save.
I suspect you will then get the results you want.

Most likely, the reason you aren't seeing changes is that your score is triggering the Page Fill, meaning the settings are ignored and the systems are automatically being spaced to fill the page. To disable that, set the threshold (same dialog) to 100%. Now you'll see the real effect of your space settings. Although it is true that you can't reduce the space around lyrics below what MuseScore considers minimum values.
It looks like it was a newbiy thing after all. I was messing with a single instrument "system" and was confusing the "system" and "staff" terms. All is well and the "Apply" button works.
