Extracting Parts
It appears that when I extract parts from a score, two things happen:
1. It does not allow for chaired parts e.g. Trumpet 1
2. It does not allow for special repeats such as 1st and 2nd endings
I do not no if this is a bug or an existing problem, but I would find much rejoicing at this problem being remedied.

Not sure what you mean by #1 - do you perhaps means you created the trumpet part by putting both trumpets on the same staff? It's true that doesn't work. As with most notation programs, you need to put each part on a sepearate staff.
As for #2, in general multiple repeat endings *do* work. But they fail if a part has a multimeasure rest at that spot. Is that what you are seeing? The solution is set the "break multimeasure rest" property of the measure.
