Incorrect number of beats in 11/8?

• Nov 16, 2011 - 15:26

Recently, I've been working on a fairly large piece (10 piece orchestra), and there's one section that is in 11/8 time. However, shortly after inputing notes in 11/8, the number of beats in the bars for some instruments became very offset. Attached is a picture of the issue.

Unfortunately, it seems that measure has become corrupt somehow. If you search the forum using that keyword, you'll find various other threads discussing cases of corruption, with theories as to what specifically might have caused the problem. Some of the causes have been identified with reproducible examples, but others have not, so if you ever catch the problem in the act of showing up and can come up with steps to reproduce, I know that would help the developers (and the est of us who occasionally see these problems) a lot. Meanwhile, the pnly real solution I know is to fully delete the corrupt measure, re-insert a new one, and re-enter the contents. You can always try copying and pasting the contents of unaffected staves into the new measure so you only have to re-enter the affected staves, although it's possible that doing so will re-create the corruption. But worst case, you just try again.

Your score has been corrupted indeed. If you don't manage to put in a stable state and if you don't mind to share it, you can attach it to a comment. Time signature is probably not the issue btw, the use of tuplets and copy paste is known to be an issue in MuseScore 1.1.
