As far as I know key signature is imported from MIDI file header. What headers are you missing?

the key signature is in the header and the import process ignores it and creates a different key signature in each clef of the piano part and several of the other parts, as it is a midi file I wouldn't have expected the import had to do any key evaluation just take it as it found it.
