Dynamics, information, etc. applied to playback
Dynamics don't seem to be changing how the playback sounds. For instance, I'd like to be able to have a pan flute playing in Forte, but when I write it in, it doesn't sound different. Also, things like crescendos, poco rit.s, etc. don't seem to ever be applied to the playback. I'd like dynamics and the like to be applied to the playback.

Dynamics should be applied - are you adding them from the palette, or creating them as ordinary text? If you right click the dynamic and then look at MIDI properties, what does it say?
As for crescendos, etc, that's a commonly requested feature that hopefully will come some time in the future. Meanwhile, check out the Plugins (see link at right of this page) for a plugin that can help.
