Application Error
Hi all
First of all I'd like to say how much I enjoy using Musescore. It's a great program.
I'm having a small problem with it. Every time I shut down I get an error message that says
The instruction at "0x04e68706" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
I am running version 1.1 Revision 4611 on an HP XW8200 workstation with XP Pro including all updates and patches
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, including deleting %appdata%/muse to remove all config settings and I still get the error.
Any ideas would be appreciated and Thanks in advance

Could you run
mscore -s
on the command line and try to reproduce? If you don't know how to run it from the command line see Revert to factory settings and just replace
-F

Thanks for responding lasconic. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.
When I open "C:\Program Files\mscore.exe" -s the error message does not show upon exit of Musescore.
Does that mean anything? and what is the -s switch, a safe mode?

-s
disables the sound output of MuseScore. When you run MuseScore with this option it doesn't connect to your sound system and so it doesn't disconnect when you quit it.We have some Known incompatibilities but none of them seems to crash MuseScore on stop. Could you give more details about your sound system like the soundcard brandname and model, the driver version, any micro or webcam with micro? any special hardware?

I generated a detailed report of my system using HWINFO32 and saved it to a text doc. Hopefully that will answer any questions about my system. I'm using the onboard audio for Musescore. I have another audio interface but it's running at a high sample/bit rat for my recording program. No mic or cam.
I've noticed that Musescore is not saving the new volume level in the play panel. I know that it used to. We might be narrowing this down. Could it help to revert to factory settings?
Thanks bro

Revert to factory settings can't hurt indeed. Thanks for the detailed info.

I spent a few minutes and uninstalled again. Then deleted %appdata%, removed muscore folder from c:\progam files. Then I went into regedit and removed all references to musescore. I don't know how to get a cleaner installation. Reinstalled musescore only to get the same error message on exit. :-( Don't know if this is useful info or not.

Could you send a screenshot of your preferences window ? (Edit > Preferences > I/O). Only "Internat synthesizer" should be checked and Portaudio. If it's the case, can you change the portaudio settings and restart to see if any combination solves the problem?

I've got a little time to mess with these settings a little and I'll see what I can do. At first glance I'll try to change the output.
