Can't insert eighth rest at beginning of measure
When I select the note value I desire (eighth note) and press the space bar the rest does not appear at the beginning of my measure. It sometimes appears after the note I am trying to put AFTER it, and continues to float to the end of the measure.

I thought the Spacebar initiated playback???
That's what happens when I press it in Note Entry mode.

Assuming you customized your shortcuts to make the space bar be a rest, or that you are using an older version in which that was the default shortcut, then it all comes down to where the cursor is when you press the space bar. If the cursor is at the beginning of an empty the measure, that's where the rest will appear, and the rest of the measure will be filled with rests to fill out the correct duration. If the cursor is on some already entered note or rest, then pressing space bar will replace that note or rest (or half a beat worth of it, anyhow).
