Can't use M-Audio KeyRig 49 with Musescore?

• Jan 24, 2012 - 07:53

Hi,

I recently purchased an M-Audio Keyrig 49 to use with Musescore, but even though I only have one keyboard attached, going into note input mode and pressing the keys doesn't work. I know the keyboard is fine - I tested it with Midi-Ox - and I did try going into the I/O section of preferences, but my keyboard wasn't shown there. Can anyone please help?

This is not an answer to your question, but rather an open question to the MuseScore community. We received couple of support requests from people who can't get their MIDI device connected with MuseScore. This is another recent one: https://www.facebook.com/musescore/posts/10150716698412678

I have two questions:
- what would be the set of questions we need to ask to solve these MIDI connection issues?
- how can we improve the software to make sure it works out of the box in MuseScore 2.0

Unfortunately midi is different on every platform and also driver dependent.
Currently MuseScore gives no information and is of little help when midi does not work, something which should be improved in the future.

One idea is to add some information in the preferences dialog about driver and connection status.

One thing that might help is the inclusion of a simple MIDI monitor.

It is of enormous help to know what MIDI data is being received by the device, when you know what is being sent.

This was where Logic and the other programs of that stable were strong - equally they were a royal pain to set up!
