Jack connection to Virtual Keyboard for input of notes

• Feb 8, 2012 - 14:38

System Planetccrma Fedora 16 Toshiba Satellite pro 64bit dual core.

I have tried three virt keyboards. Jack-vkebd allows me to output to the keyboard (viually interesting but not useful) whereas with the other two you can see nothing.

The button for midi has no visible effect other than appearing to work visually.

Sound output through Jack works as expected.

In oder to allow entry of notes I would expect MuseScore to appear in the RHS (input Ports section) of QJackctl. It doesn't and so I can't use the keyboard to enter notes.

I have played around with prefs and reckon I have them right. Interestingly, in the Jack audio server entry in prefs, the virtual kbd appears intermittently in the Jack Audio Server ports.

Any ideas.

There is no support for Jack MIDI in currently. You can enter note via PortMidi only (and in this case, you can't have Jack output, being MIDI or Audio). MuseScore 2.0 will allow note entry via Jack MIDI and should provide a virtual piano as well.
