Automatic triplets

• Dec 7, 2016 - 22:22

In [[nodetitle:Undertale - 043 "Temmie Village"]] , next to the tempo, there's a rule which turns any two eighth notes into a sixth note and a twefth note. I am transcribing another piece with a similar beat, so I need to add this rule to my score. I've tried downloading [[nodetitle:Undertale - 043 "Temmie Village"]] to insert my own notes, but the rule doesn't hold.

Your link doesn't work for me. I am guessing, though, that you are describing "swing", or in particular, the approximation of swing that people sometimes use where eighth notes are interpret as if they were part of a triplet (true swing is more subtle than that). To activate swing playback in MuseScore, add the "Swing" marking from the Text palette. The default will be a more accurate version of swing, but if you want the literal triplets, right click the marking in your score, Staff Text Properties, Swing, and change the ratio to 66%.
