Well, I kinda felt that Filler had a lot more variety than Sooner_Shuffle, but my general opinion in both cases is rather that “neither one of them had any subtlety at all!”
“I want a lover with the Slow Hands ... not come and go in a heated rush ...”
“Here they both came, right out of the starting gate, with a full combo’s entire repertoire of instruments already fully deployed,” and there was no sense of development of either of their musical ideas ... at all.
Both of these compositions have their own respective sets of “very interesting musical ideas,” but, c’mon, where’s the forepla... I mean, the finesse? Present one idea to me, then follow it with another, then bounce back-and-forth between the two of them, deploying your musical guns one-at-a-time. Give me the first little bit of your musical idea, then sit back and let me take it all in, before, in the next go-round, you toss me the next little musical fast-ball. And so on.
Both compositions have (IMHO ...) excellent musical ideas to play. But, at the moment, both of them are kinda-sorta “premature ej...” well, anyway. Give ’em both time. “Never give it to ’em all at once ...”
