Music composed on Windows XP won't play on Windows 7

• Mar 31, 2012 - 21:09

I emailed a musescore file created using Version 1.1 on Windows XP to a friend of mine. He downloaded musescore 1.1 on his computer, but, my composition won't play on his computer which has Windows 7. What should he do to be able to hear it?
Another friend who has a Mac does not have any problems playing the same music.

It is very unlikely the problem has anything to do with scores from XP not playing on Windows 7 - most likely, he just has playback problems in general with *all* scores. Or are you saying other scores play fine on his computer, just not yours? that would surprise me very greatly. Of course, it isn't good if he is having general playback problems, but if that really is the case, then at least that gives some ideas as to how to go about finding the problem. Check the most obvious things firs t- speakers on, sound turned up on the computer, etc. Also check the volume level of the Synthesizer window in MuseScore.

Thank you for your reply. If it is unlikely that the problem has something to do with not being able to play the scores from XP on Windows 7, it probably is his computer. I asked the question so I could find out and let him know that normally the score would play on Windows 7. What I said in my original post was that another friend who has a Mac can play my scores fine, so anyone who read the question would know there was nothing wrong with the file to begin with. Thank you again.
