Staff split

• May 2, 2009 - 18:28

In some music, choral mainly, one staff may spit into two. For instance, if there are two parts, Soprano and alto, which are singing in unison, only one staff is needed. But later on in the piece, it may split to two different parts: S and A. This is possible in MuseScore, in fact, quite easy, but most publishers will put two arrows like this, assuming my dashes are one staff, the < sign is the split, and the two \ and / are when the staffs come back together:
--------------------------------------------------------------------<

---------------------------------------------------------------------\
---------------------------------------------------------------------/

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Ideally, this would probably be a symbol.
