128th tremolo

• May 17, 2012 - 06:08

I don't think I've encountered this before, but whilst I was experimenting with tremolo, I noticed there was a 128th version at LilyPond .

Are there plans to implement this?

Wow!

A semihemidemisemiquaver!

Or some would have it a quasihemidemisemiquaver but I was taught that when you got to hemi you started again with semi :)

While reading the above comments I was trying to figure out how to write a 128th note -- haven't found a button or a menu to do so.

I've been playing around with Beethoven's Piano Concerto Op. 37 and finally found a way to have the 128th note displayed and played correctly. What you need to do is:
- create a 16th (or semiquaver) pause
- mark it and press Ctrl-8 (that will make an octuplet)
- write in the notes you need
- to get rid of the 8 (for the octuplet), right click that number and choose "Tuplet Properties...", then in the "Number" section select "Nothing". Voilà.

Attached a screenshot of the result.
