It looks like MuseScore is putting a little too much space between the quarter and whole note.
As a workaround you can double click on the whole note and nudge it closer using the arrow keys.

The actual placement of the flat and note seemed unusul to me. Since then, I have seen other notation which conforms to what MS has done here.
