Help creating a note

Hi Musescore community~
I'm a beginner at sheet music making, so please help out

This is the example I'm going to use
I want to know if there's any way to make a note that is held throughout the measure but without taking up it's actual length in a bar. (see bar 5 left hand) The b is held for 4 counts while the other notes - f, a, d, e, are played.

I'm terribly sorry, but I can't seem to find a way to do this
Please help.
