MuseScore Crash: How to open .MSCZ,

• May 26, 2012 - 13:22

Hi everyone,

Recently, I was working on a score, and MuseScore froze and crashed. Now usually, I would just open the score back up, but when I did, MuseScore opened, but nothing came up: i.e., no score loaded. I went back to look at the file of my score, and it was only 1 KB! I know it should be much more than that, as this was a rather large score, much larger than just 1 KB. I still have the backup .MSCZ, file, which I assume is all (or almost all) there, as it has 36 KB. I tried to open it with MuseScore, but all I got was a Windows error message: Reading file failed: Bad file descriptor. I was wondering if anyone knew how to open or convert this file into a usable format. Even if it's only to MIDI or Lilypad, that would still be great, as I put a lot of work into this score and really need it back.

Thanks

1. Select the file in your directory
2. hit F2
3. Remove the , from the end of the file suffix
4. Press enter
5. Click OK when the warning message comes up about changing filetypes.
