Change playback instruments
I'm new to MuseScore, but I have the opposite problem to the typical newbie one-staff problem.
I'm working on a piece with multiple instruments, but I want to change the playback so that all of the instruments use the piano instead of the (somewhat unrealistic sounding) actual instruments. I feel like I should be able to pull this off by playing with the instruments.xml file, but I haven't been able to make it work. Can anyone help me?

The instruments.xml only affects new scores. In current versions of MuseScore there is no user interface for changing the sounds of existing scores except by adding new instruments (via Create > Instruments) and copying the notes from the old staff onto the new staff.

Thanks for your reply. I suppose that when MIDI output functionality is added, we'll be able to switch between instruments?

I created a new piano SoundFont for MuseScore today that should do want you are asking. Maybe it will alleviate your sadness :)
