Import Error-Type of Staff

• Feb 6, 2017 - 21:15

I imported a wind band piece to Musescore. Upon opening, multiple instruments (Trumpets 1-2, F Horn, Trombone 1-2, Baritone, and Timpani) all compiled themselves into Piano parts with Grand Staffs. I changed all of the Pianos to their proper instruments, but they are still stuck as 3 Grand Staffs instead of 6 separate parts. In addition, a Tubular Bells part became a Drum Kit (Percussion Staff). How can I split up the Grand Staff and how can I change the Percussion Staff to a normal one?

I'm French, so.....my English.....

I do for the Trumpet, see the score : Create a new track of trumpet with INSTRUMENT in EDIT . Make go up this new track which is at the bottom to his new place, juste under the double staff Piano-Trumpet with the same window INSTRUMENT with the UP-ARROW in the window.

Copy the second staff of trumpet for all the score, paste in the new staff, delete all the notes of the old staff (second Piano) , return in INSTRUMENTS and delete the whole staff (the second staff of the Piano-Trumpet)

So you got the first staff of the beginning and a new second trumpet just below.

For the drums, My French makes difficult to understand what's happening.

In your score there are strange things, for example, if you put in CONCERT TONALITY, all the UT Instruments (Flute, Trombone) are with 3 flats, so, in Eb, but the KEYS for transposing instruments (the Bb like clarinets, the Trumpets....or the F like Horns) are not corresponding.

For example the Bb injstruments, with Eb for the UT, must have 1 b in F, but they have 3 for the trumpets and 5 for the Tenor Sax so ?????? windwakerfinal2.mscz

Thanks for your help! I was able to understand your English pretty well, haha! Your first solution worked wonderfully; I fixed the brass/timpani issues with it. As for the drums (the Bells became Drum Kit) I was able to fix it with EDIT->INSTRUMENTS.

With respect to the key/flats issue, this happens with all my imports. I solve it like this.
1. Left-click the key signature (while it's messed up and "Concert Pitch/Concert Tonality" is selected) and choose the proper key from the Palette.
2. Click "Concert Pitch/Concert Tonality" at the top in order to un-select it.
3. All the instruments should be in the correct transposal.
