How to have just 2 bars on a line non stretched to opposite margin?
I can't seem to figure out to get just 2 or 3 bars on a line (I want all the bars throughout the score to stay even in size) and would want say at a repeats section to have just the 1st and 2nd endings on the line. Then have everything continue normally in the next line...

You can insert line breaks anywhere you want - just click a bar line and hit Enter (or double click the Line break icon on the Breaks & Spacer palette).
If you want a line not to reach the right margin, you need to insert a horizontal frame before the first measure of the next line, then add your line break to that frame instead of the preceding measure.
You can also force all bars on a system to be the same size via Style->Edit General Style->System, Fix Measure Width.
