I've just installed 2 new nightly builds which seem to have odd compatibility issues.

Version 1b306e9 on both Mac and Windows and version 12e5cc5 on Mac only.

Both fail to open most of the scores I've created using earlier, recent nightly builds and report them as being made with a "newer version of MuseScore".

Both also report there is an updated version available : "MuseScore 0.9.6.1 r3280. I was alerted to this because opening version 1b306e9 on my Mac for the first time prompted me to update immediately. I wouldn't have expected nightly builds to have an upgrade path at all.

6 days ago a345f393b4 the revision number of the MuseScore file format has changed to 1.25 but only for a few commits. It was not necessary so the version number has been rollback to 1.24 again at 3139970fd1 (21 hours ago). Scores created in the meantime will not open.
You can unzip the mscz, open the mscx with a text editor and change the version number from 1.25 to 1.24.

Nightly on windows don't call the update server because they are named differently. (Cymbals vs MuseScore). Apparently it's not the case for Mac. I will open another bug for this.

Actually, for the home-compilers among us, the nightly build does call the update server and reports that there is an update to 0.9.6.1. Mine at home does this automatically but at work it doesn't. When you check via the menu you do see the update to the old version.
