MuseScore 9.4 crashes on startup

• Jun 3, 2009 - 11:45

I was working on a score last night and MuseScore 9.4 was working fine. This morning, when I clicked on the icon to start it up, I got the following message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: D:\MuseScore 0.9\bin\mscore.exe

The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

There was nothing unusual about the takedown. I hibernated the PC when I was finished for the night.

I uninstalled MS and reinstalled it and got the same error. What can I do to get around this?

Because of the crash, I can't read the release level, but it is supposed to be the latest stable release.

There are a few known startup crashes in 0.9.4. Probably you are using the "continue last session" option in the preferences? You have a couple of options...

Option 1:
Warning: This will wipe all your preferences related to MuseScore and any changes you have made to the palette and restore them to "factory settings".

  1. From the Windows "Start" menu choose "Run..."
  2. Type the following (make sure you type an uppercase F): mscore -F
  3. Press "OK"

Option 2:
Try the latest prerelease. Chances are that the particular startup crash you are experiencing is already fixed.
