Single to double stave piece
I am creating a work that starts out with one staff and then needs two staves near the end. I cannot figure out how to add another staff in the middle of the score. Is there a way to do this?

The purpose of the second staff will determine the best way to add it.
The first step is always open the instruments dialog by pressing i
If you need a grand staff like a piano, click the word staff under the instrument and press add staff (not linked staff)
If you are dividing what had previously been 2 clarinets for example playing off the same staff and now want two staves for them, then add a clarinet from the instruments dialog.
Once the appropriate staff has been added and your score is finished go into the Style-> General... dialog and select hide empty staves. When you look at the score in page view, only lines of music with notes or staff text will be visible. In continuous view, both lines will always be visible.
