Musescore 1.1 or 1.2 freezing at startup osx Lion, not working at all

• Oct 27, 2012 - 09:03

I've been using Musescore for almost a year now, and really liked it.

It used to work perfect with my old Leopard iMac and Win XP laptop. I got a new Lion laptop earlier this year and Musescore used to work just fine for a few months.

Suddenly somewhere around summertime it stopped working completely on the osx Lion laptop.

I've tried 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 versions and every time the same thing happens: I get the startup screen, but the program freezees there. I don't even get the demo project or anything, it stops responding before it even starts. And I have to force quit it.

I've gone to firewall settings and added musescore to the "allow incoming connections"-list, but this doesn't help either.

What to do? I don't think there's anything wrong with my Lion, since every other program installs and works just fine.

Is there an older version or any newer beta version I could at least try?

it has to be something to do with audio, since the only way the Musescore program seems to start is when I type:

/Applications/MuseScore.app/Contents/MacOS/mscore -s

This is so far the only way I got it to start.

Actually now I remember that I installed an older version of Pro Tools to my laptop. Musescore used to start just fine but after the Pro Tools installation it started freezing at startup without ever really starting. It was just "not responding".

I wonder why is that? But at least I can continue using Musescore now!
