Staff? You don't, I guess. It would be possible to use a one-line staff (percussion) instead though.

right-click stave.
Choose Stave Properties
Click Invisible
Click OK

Actually It is called "Staff properties".
And there you can also set the number of lines!! Reducing it to 1 gives exactly the desired result!
