My MuseScore Lags

• Jan 24, 2013 - 18:41

When I try to play one of the demos on MuseScore or play my composition's the software lags and it play the music at roughly half the speed.

I've tried Uninstalling it and Reinstalling it, But nothing has worked so far.
Are their any solutions out there?

Thanks for Helping.

How do you know what the speed is suppoed to be? Do you mean there is a tempo marking at the beginning of the piece, but when you set your metronome to that, the playback goes slower? If so, you probably have temporarily turned down the "tempo scaling factor" in the Play Panel. go to display / play panel and turn that back to 100%.

Also, if this is your first time using MuseScore and you are on Windows, go to display / synthesizer and move he reverb and chorus sliders - doesn't matter where, just ,ove the,. This clears up glitches some users experience

I tried what you said and it was already at 100%

I know what the speed is supposed to be because it play at the correct speed for roughly two bars then slows down.
Also the blue line moves across the screen at the correct time but the notes don't follow.
I've also tried Downloading MuseScore 1.0 which I was able to use on my previous computer but MuseScore 1.0 has exactly the same problem.

Then did you try the second thing I mentioned - changing the reverb / chorus settings? For some reason, some number of users find weird playback issues that go away permanenty the moment they move one of those controls.

Oh, if your score is by any chance imported from MIDI or MusicXML, it's entirely possible that something within the input file is causing the problem. But you say this happens even for the demo score, so I guess that's not it here.

Beyond that, check out Known incompatibilities to see if anything seems to apply.

But I'm guessing the synth settings will fix it.

Hi Minter

What OS is your computer running?

It sounds as though there could be a memory problem, but I need to know more before I can attempt to help.
