Hairpins

• May 10, 2017 - 23:04

I've tried to get hairpins to work in Musescore with no success. When I use a crescendo, the dynamic doesn't change during the crescendo at all, only at the end where a new dynamic is specified. Is there a way to solve this? Thanks!

I can see your crescendos just fine, so I guess you are talking about an issue with playback only? The first one I see - measure 5 - does appear to play back just fine. The effect isn't very noticeable, though, because it only goes from mp to f - notice you have an mp on the bottom staff, set to "part". You probably don't mean that?

Also, keep in mind that support for playback of hairpins in MuseScore is limited to passages of multiple notes - there is no support for change of dynamic within a single note. Also, in order for completely automatic playback to work, there needs to be a dynamic marking somewhere before and after the crescendo so MuseScore knows how much louder to get. If you don't include such dynamics, you can tell MuseScore how much louder to get manually using the Inspector.

I'm French , so , I try to be ......clear !!

I think, for exemple in measure 5, you put on the 2 staves a "mp" but , with a crescendo , only for the first stave, you must say to MUseScore that you want each mp for each stave Using INSPECTOR, clic on MP on choose STAVE and no PART . Idem for the Forté. In the copy of your score I join, I delete the mp on the Bass Stave, and I change mp for "P" and 'F" for "ff" and it works very well.
You can also choose the "velocity" of the f.mp.p.etc, also in the inspector.
