Centering on page
All I want is for all of the other pages that come after it to have the staves in the center, instead of having a void at the bottom of the page. However, I also want the first page to contain a title and a little space before the staves begin. In fact, the first page is perfect, but if I try to make the staves assume a more central position on the page via the general style options the first page becomes empty (save for the title) and its contents placed on the second page. Is there no way to ignore the first page, sort of like Word's "Different first page" feature? this is not a problem with solo instruments, it just comes up when writing for a large ensemble/orchestra. It works great for the first two pages, but once it hits the next odd-numbered page (page 3) it sets the top margins on that to 10mm. If I change the odd pages to 58mm top margins then the aforementioned problem arises yet again. What I want is separate options for the first page. Is there any way to disable to stretching that occurs when you add a title? I don't want it.

I beleive the "stretching" you refer to is the "Page Fill" feature. If a page is more than a certain amount full, MuseScore automatically spaces the systems out further so they take ther whole page. You can set the threshold via Style / Edit General Style / Page - "Page fill threshold". Setting it 100% effectively disables it.
