Set a single note to voice x.

• Feb 7, 2013 - 09:15

Hello

Using MuseScore for students to write homework of harmony. It is not comfortable changing notes simple voice to voice. Or assign a note mistakenly added to voice 1, change to voice 2.

At the time, writing notes with a MIDI keyboard for 4 voices harmony in two staves, it is easy to enter two notes per staff, filter lower note and sent it to voice 2. But this can not be done in MuseScore.

It would be great if version 2 would allow changing a single note or a selection of notes lower / higher one chord to another voice.

Limitations are pretty unavoidable. After all, comsider, voice 1 is by definition always "full". So moving a note into voice 1 meaning deleting something else, or else adding the note to the existing chord - but that's only possibly if there happens to a chord that actually starts and ends at the same time as the note you are moving. The notion of simply moving a note from one voice to another really only makes sense in very limited situations. In the more general case, there is really no getting you needing to figure out how you want it to work and doing it manually.

I was looking for information on this subject and found this thread.

In an old trailing-edge 16-bit scorewriting program I used to use (R.I.P.), I could select any note or drum hit in a measure and "send" it to any of the other three voices on that staff.

Sometimes it made the difference between an easy fix and having to re-do the measure from scratch.

I find the same feature in this Demo version of Overture in which I cannot save my work.

I would certainly enjoy having that feature available to me in MuseScore.
