6/8 time

• Feb 9, 2013 - 04:44

Have used Musescore lot and found it excellent. In my new piece I want to join the stems of the first beat of 6/8 using a quaver a triplet and a quaver... I cannot seem to get the stems to join. Does anyone know how to do this. Thanks Lulu

See Beam in the online Handbook for info on how to override beams. I have defined keyboard shortcuts (via edit / prefeences / shortcuts) for the "start of beam" and "moddle of beam" commands to make this very simple.

Thanks for your help... I have got the stems to lengthen but I want a beam to cover the 1st beat of the bar usng a quaver a triplet and then a quaver as the 1st beat, At the moment I am getting a single quaver with a hook then a triplet of semiquavers then another single quaver with a hook all separate pulses-- I need a beam to include the lot as the 1st beat of 6/8 time. Is it possible to do this? Thanks Lulu

Did you read the Handbook article I mentioned? It expains how to use the Beam palette to do exactly what you want, if I am understanding correctly. If there is a note that is not being beamed to the previous note and you want it to be, just click the note, then doible click the "middle of beam" icon.

If you are still having trouble, post a score you are having trouble with, tell us what notes you are having trouble connecting, and we'll tell you how to do it.

Thankyou for your prompt and helpful reply. I did not understand the function of the beam system when I read it. [ I did read the handbook } But realize now that if I have all stems flipped the same way I can manipulate them. This is such a good program and I have found it very easy to use until this problem came along so thankyou again.. Lulu
