Transposing chord names

Sorry if this has been covered before but I couldn't find it. There seems to be a restriction on which chord names can be transposed and which cannot. Simple chords like C or Cm7 will be automatically transposed but if you try to add more complex chords like Cm7(flat)5 (using the flat symbol, of course) then it doesn't trasnpose. I cannot find information in the user namual about what chord names are accepted for transposition. It doesn't help to put the 7(flat)5 into superscript either.
