Agreed. For now, here's what I do (assuming you're using the 5-line drumset). Go to "Edit drumset" and then scroll down to "Tom 4." Tom 4 has a much better bassy sound in my opinion and sounds a lot more like the bass drum should be. Then I rename it to "Bass drum" and move the staff line down until it appears where the bass drum used to appear. Then hit okay and you should have a better, louder bass drum sound.

See the post above yours. I assume you are talking about the small soundfont that installs by default with MuseScore, but there are are many othes available, any of which woild likely have better bass drums (and better just about everything) than the default.
