Rests when writing for unpitched drums

Hello, just updated to 2.1
I cannot put a rest onto a bar anymore by highlighting the note (say a
quaver) clicking on the new rest button (previously only showed a crochet
rest) and then clicking on to the stave
I can put notes in but not rests
I use Musescore for unpitched drums, this is the only part of the software I
use
Can you let me know if I'm doing it incorrectly or if there's a bug in the new version
