The widths of these elements will be adjustable in 2.0 - you can see this already in the nightly builds. But I do wonder, have you tried printing any of your scores from 1.X? Depending on your screen resolution and zoom level, sometimes these symbols look a little thin on screen, but printed, the double bar line at least is actually a pretty standard size. Slurs/ties are indeed a little thin.
Using the nightly version, I found a width of 0.50sp most suitable for an end barline.
