This is a score I'm recreating for an online book. I don't know what allo modto means, and I don't know how to write it. I've thought of using different font sizes of system and text files and dropping one into the other. If there's a better way, I'd appreciate knowing it. I also don't know what allo modto means and how it applies to the music. Can you help?

Figuring it out slowly. Allo is an abbreviation for allegro.

Modto seems to be an abbreviation for moderato.

Wow! Got it! Two thumbs UP! I was thinking I had to have a dot under the superscript. Having it before the superscript makes everything so much easier!

And thanks for defining all.o mod.to. I had never seen it before.

All.o Mod.to
Allegro Moderato
Slower than Allegro, quicker than Moderato.
(between Allegro and Moderato.)

(from: Standard Metronome Timings and Ratios by Robert Paterson:)
Moderato: 66-126
Allegro   : 84-144

Tempos are relative: interpretation (most important), level of reverberation in the performance space, the performer’s articulation, technical skill and the difficulty of the piece (for better or
worse) may effect the tempo.

Ever since the metronome was invented, it has been criticized. Beethoven said, "The metronome is a silly gadget: you must know the tempi!"
