howto change preconfig dynamics position on the score

• Jul 7, 2013 - 13:54

hi guys

I need to write a full score using alternatively 2 computers:
1. intel-mac with snow leopard and musescore 1.3
2. g4-mac with tiger and musescore 1.1

The two versions of musescore are pretty similar, but I've noticed that when you select a note, and double-clic a dynamic sign (i.e. PP) the two musescore versions insert it onto the score in two slightly different position (i.e. musescore 1.3 inserts the PP almost exactly under the note axis, while 1.1 version inserts the PP slightly more to the right.

I'd like to conform the preconfig behaviour of the two versions. So, what do I have to modify to set the two versions with the same pre-config position of the dynamics near the notes?

thx

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way currently. What *should* work is to go to Style / Edit Text Style / Dynamics and fiddle with the "X Offset" parameter. Unfortunately, Dynamics text style just doesn't seem to have any effect in 1.X. Most text styles work, but Dynamics, Repeat (for Coda et al) and maybe one or two others are ignored. It appears (from trying this out on a development build) that this will be fixed in 2.0, but for now, I guess you'll have to keep manually repositioning dynamics. Hopefully you've at least discovered you can double click then nudge with the arrow key, or ctrl-arrow or alt-arrow for finer movements. So if you figure out how many clicks you want to move, you can at least make it consistent that way. Also, since you mention working on a full score - you may also have discovered you can copy and paste dynamics from one place to another, and any manual adjustments you made are preserved. So if you add a dynamic to a flute part, then manually repositioning it, you can then copy that same dynamic to all the other parts.
