BPM increased after reopening

The BPM in the play panel has increased from 85 BPM to 7200 BPM after I reopened my tablature. Yet when i change this BPM to 720 (lowest value available) and save the file, it returns again to 7200 BPM after reopening. Since I can't edit the mscz-file, I have no way to play my file with the correct BPM anymore.

Why can't you edit the MSCZ file? Can you post it here so others can see what might be going on? In any case, you should be aware that the play panel is not really the right place to be setting the basic tempo for your piece. That should be accomplished by creating a tempo text at the beginning. Think of the play panel more as a scaling factor that is applied on top of that. That is why it gives units in percentages - those are meant to be relative to whatever tempo markings exist in the piece itself.

Thanks for your feedback. I can edit the mscz-file, what I meant is that I can't edit it in a text editor because of its formatting. Now about the tempo text, this text has no effect on the playback. You can write everything down in this text box you want. The help documentation itself says that for the playback you have to change the BPM in the play panel.

It's the tempo text *properties* (right click menu) where you set the playback effect. There is an option coming in the 2.0 version to have it automatically detect tempo from the text. Since you mention tablature, I wonder if maybe you are trying to use experiment / prerelease / nightly builds of 2.0? If so, better to ask questions on the "Technology Preview" forum. Anyhow, even for 1.X, I think the documentation suggesting using the play panel for basic tempo setting is outdated.

Thank you for the reference to the technology preview forum, I wasn't aware of its existence. Since this topic already exists, I'll keep the discussion going on in here. So, I found out what the problem was. Here is what I did previously:

- Select a note (chord in my situation)
- Insert > Text > Tempo Marking
- Select a quarter note from the "Special Characters" window
- Completing the tempo with " = 85"

Since I'm using the nightly build, there is no tempo properties menu anymore. Now using the steps written above doesn't allow for an automatic recognition of the BPM. What I did to get my tempo recognized is the following:

- Select a note (chord in my situation)
- Palettes > Text > Tempo Text with quarter note ([quarter note] = 80)
- Changed "80" into "85"

This solved the problem. Thank you for guiding me in the right direction.

Tempo properties, like most other right click menu dialogs, has moved to the new Inspector facility (press F8 to display). And there is now a "follow text" option. The options seems to work as far as making the Inspector display automatically update if you edit the text, although I'm not actually seeing it have a playback effect currently.

Ok, so based on your answer I removed the BPM in my tablature which changed the BPM in the play panel back to 120. So the fact that I write '[quarter note] = 85' in my tempo text increases the BPM in the play panel up to 7200. I guess this is because I formatted the tempo text incorrectly. How can this text be formatted correctly, so that the BPM in the play panel is set to 85 BPM for 100%?
