8va/metronome

• Sep 8, 2013 - 01:29

hello, i'm using Musescore 1.2 on Ubuntu/Linux and have a few questions :

- i don't see a metronome, is that something in a future version?

- i don't see a keyboard shortcut for a Sharp?

- i'm only able to drag an 8va or 8vb across 1 measure - it can't seem to be dragged across mutliple measures?

Thanks for any help!

1) I believe a metronome will appear in a future release. For now, adding a simple drum line may help. At times, I have even added a simple bass line to be played while I learned tricky syncopated passages.

2) Shortcut for sharp during note entry: highlight a note, hit up arrow (down for flat)
To add the sharp when naming chords, use the number sign '#'. For example 'A#m7' ('b' for flat eg. Abm7)

3) 8va or 8vb - Once you have entered either in your score, double click on it to enter edit mode. You will see square 'handles'. You can move these anchor points by using 'Shift' + 'right (or left) directional arrow'.

I highly recommend watching the video tutorials found on the main musescore.org page. Lots of non-obvious things about how note entry and other things work that are explained well.
