MuseScore Example Manager on Mac

• Sep 26, 2013 - 08:00

The extension is great and I'm going to show it to my students, but I have a problem on my MacBook: the ⌘-click on a musical example doesn't link me to the original on MuseScore. On Windows XP it does work.
I tried both clicking it when already selected or not with no success.
I'm using a MacBook Pro 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7 with OS X 10.8.5, LibreOffice Version: 4.1.1.2
Build ID: 7e4286b58adc75a14f6d83f53a03b6c11fa2903

Thanks in advance

Glad you're liking it!

On WIndows, clicking the link loads it into MuseScore, but unfortunately if MuseScore was already loaded, you don't get any obvious indication that this has happened - you have to manually switch to the MuseScore window. So you actually ctrl-click the graphic, wait a moment, then click the MuseScore icon in the taskbar. Perhaps it is something that simple on Mac as well - the example is being loaded but you just aren't seeing it?

If that is not the case - if you are sure the example is not being loaded at all, then something is wrong. The extension uses the standard LibreOffice link mechanism, so either the link is invalid or you are not activating it correctly. I don't know Mac, so I can only assume that the cmd-click is how links usually work for links in LibreOffice, but you might want to verify that. Can you create other links yourself (not using the extension) and activate them successfully that way? How about a link to an MSCZ file specifically? Does your Mac know that MSCZ files need to open in MuseScore? On Windows, that is handled by "File Associations" and is normally set up automatically when you install; I assume it's similar on Mac, but you might want to check that this is working.

Assuming you can create and a link manually and activate it with cmd-click, then something must be wrong with the links created by the extension. If you "right click" (or equialvent on Mac) a generated graphic and then choose "Picture..." and click the "Hyperlink" tab, do you see the URL filled in? Does it look valid? Can you verify the MSCZ file is really there and can open?

Thanks for your advices! It looks like being a LO bug, When I try to link a text to the MSCZ file everything works fine. Trying to link another graphic - not generated by your extension - doesn't work: the ⌘-click only selects the picture but doesn't activate the link, the same behavior as with the MuseScore example. So, it shouldn't definitely be an extension bug.
Thanks for help

That's good to hear, I guess. I wonder if there isn't something that needs to be set differently, or some different keystroke you need to learn? Do let me know if you find a way of getting that to work (or hear of LO being fixed so that cmd-click works on images).
