Where is the alpha keyboard ?
I want to add some text symbols to the score (A-B-C-D, etc.) but the only keyboard that pops up is Special Characters. How do I bring up a regular alpha keyboard ? Thanks.

If you mean you just want to be abke to type ordinary text, see [[nodetitle:Staff text]] . If you specifically mean individual letters to use as rehearsal marks, see [[nodetitle:Rehearsal mark]] . Either way, you type the text using your regular computer keyboard - no special on-screen keyboard needed.

One more question: how can you set the default text attributes (font, size, etc) ? The Staff Text function works fine for me now, but I have to set the attributes each time.

The defaults for the various types of text are all in Style / Edit Text Style. As you'll see, there are lots of different types of text. So do be sure you use the most appropriate one. Eg, don't try to co-opt staff text for thngs that are really rehearsal marks, or tempo markings, or chord symbols, or lyrics, etc.
