Importing Midi Files
I'd like to import a .MID file to MuseScore, but when I do, the score is basically unreadable. Would I have to fix it from scratch after importing the file?
Also, is there a way to upload/open an .mtd file from musicnotes.com onto MuseScore, or do I have to use the midi version? All I want to do is transpose the piece down.

Hi.
Could you please tell me the sequencer you used to input the file and just how quantized you had note on and off when you recorded?
Thanks.

I actually got the midi file from musicnotes.com after purchasing and downloading the sheet music. The midi file came with the sheet music.

Thanks.
Are you able to see the notation independent to this file? Or perhaps you know, "What is the shortest duration in the score, 32nd, 64th, tuplet: what kind"?

16th note is the shortest.

Do you have a sequencer? What is it?
If so, load the MIDI file into it, making sure that there are no quantization filters applied to the load.
Then take a look at the actual midi commands in text. See if the durations are some multiple or divisor of 480.
Importing into Finale 2007 also gives unreadable results. MIDI is not a reliable format for music notation (for details see [[nodetitle:export]] ).
Probably you would have better luck scanning the score, converting to MusicXML (see Music OCR ), then importing to MuseScore. Either that or write it out manually.
