Star Theme
I don't know if this would go in SoundFonts or General Discussion, but I decided it goes in General Discussion. Anyway, what is the Star Theme instrument? I think it's a synth instrument, but I have no clue what it is or why it has its name. I think it sounds kinda like an echoey piano/string section hybrid, but... I don't know.

There is no "instrument" named Star Theme. I assume you are referring to the *sound* called "Star Theme" in the default soundfont. It's one of the standard sounds defined by the General MIDI standard, so all GM-compatible soundfonts will include a sound by that name. I assume this was the name of some sound provided by some early-1990's synthesizer and was popular enough back in the day for the GM folks to decide that henceforth all synthesizers should include something like it.
