Should the timeline have partial selections if the whole measure is not selected?
ericfont and I have been discussing here about the possibility of changing how the timeline handles range selections. Currently, the timeline registers a selected measure as having anything inside that measure selected. It then proceeds to draw a thick blue border around it.
ericfont's idea was to introduce partial selection, allowing the user to notice if they have not selected the full measure in the score.

As the picture shows, the selection includes two measures and halfway through the third measure. Another example is below:

This shows one measure having a partial selection inside it.
A possible problem with this is upon zooming out as far as possible in the timeline (a feature that is currently in my development branch), this partial selection would look like a solid vertical line.
So, the question stands: should the timeline have partial selections if the whole measure is not selected?
Any and all feedback is appreciated!

I would vote for NO. Keep full measure granularity in the timeline.
Here's another vote for NO. Timeline imo should first and foremost be an overview tool. Going so granular would only work confusing.

I agree.
