Sound not playing

Just downloaded Musescore 2.1.0 (revision 871c8ce) a few days ago. Am working on a composition. The sound played for me at first, then stopped for unknown reasons. I "reverted to factory settings" (under "Help" menu). That worked for a while. Then the sound stopped working again. I've tried various things (Restart computer; revert to factory settings again) but cannot get the sound started.

What else can I try?

Thanks for your interest, Mike. My operating system is OS X Yosemite (version 10.10.5).

I managed to get my sound back (the second time). Somehow my computer speakers had been turned right down — obviously I should have checked that before writing in!

But afterward I lost the sound a third time when I closed the file. On re-opening it, there was no sound. So I once again "reverted to factory settings," and that worked.

Does closing a file regularly cause such a problem? If so, I'll just minimize rather than closing, and continue to "revert to factory settings" whenever necessary.

But is there any other way around this?
