Weird program!
I've got a whole string of bars with 4 slashes per bar (4 beats).
////////////////////////////////////////////////// (my make-shift paragraphs here)
I change one bar to 2/4 time.
It changes all the bars following that to 2/4.
OK I can understand that.
////////////////////////////
But since I only want one bar of 2/4 I change the next bar back to 4/4.
So what does Musescore do?
It changes each bar to this configuration:
/ / half rest !
Go figure!

In 1.X, changing time signature to a something longer does not automatically combine the old shorter measures into new longer ones. But you can get that effect easily enough - just select the region, copy, make the meter change, then paste back.
For 2.0, measures *will* automatically be combined.
