8va not working in playback

• Dec 16, 2013 - 16:59

In a piano piece, I have written two parts on the RH stave, with 8va above. In the playback the upper oart sounds up an octave, but the lower part doesn't. Is there a way of changing this?

When you have two voices (which is what I assume that you mean here) then you have to enter all the notes for both voices first and then add the 8va later. If you add the notes after placing the 8va then it misses them. One trick, however, if you add notes later is to click on the 8va, press [Ctrl]-x to delete it and then press [Ctrl]-z to reverse your delete and it applies the 8va to all the notes.

voices here don't mean soprano, alot, etc, but notes of different lenghts at the same starting positions (some other scoring apps call them layers), so you can very well have them in a piano part as well.

What is the matter with all you lot? My query was obviously clear to Underquark, and just because MuseScore refers to contrapuntal parts on the same stave as "voices" does not make it incorrect to use a different term. Please let's hear no more about this.
