Microtones in Key Signatures

• Aug 16, 2009 - 23:16

I had expressed my wish for this before, but maybe if I insist ...

Well, my point is: sometimes we use the occasional microtonal accidental for the odd measure or two, but most often we tend to modulate to a wholely different mode/key, so we need the ability to incorporate microtonal accidentals in a key signature. Even better, it is very useful for us to be able to incorporate just any form of accidental in any given key signature; so, for example, one very often used mode uses B natural, E half-flat and A flat.

On the other hand, this would also entail the possibilty of putting a microtonal accidental within parenthises; so, it might be a good idea to simply put a pair of parentises as a separate option to be added to any accidenat, instead of the current content of the accidental palette.

Another dream of mine, is "winged" repeats; they are that much easier to spot and follow. I suppose the brackets used for staves could just be recycled for that purpose...

But thanks for all the efforts, and congratulations for the release of 0.9.5.

I was contemplating the possibility of writing a plugin that would apply a microtonal scheme on a set of selected measure. The idea is to save time instead of using the Tuning plugin for each note with a half-flat.

I suppose I would be using qtscript for that, but where can I get insight into the programme's data structures?

Thanks.
