Using Windows On-screen Keyboard on a Notebook computer

• Jan 24, 2014 - 14:24

Notebook computers lack the keypad at the extreme right of a standard PC keyboard. One way to make note entry easier is to have the Windows On-screen Keyboard (Green start button/Programs/Accessories/Accesability/On-screen Keyboard). You have to engage 'Num Lock' to use the number pad. The left hand can be used to enter the notes themselves, with the right hand on the mouse ready to change note values. The decimal point on the number pad can be used to make a note dotted, and the zero will add a rest. When giving your piece a title, don't engage Num Lock until all the titling text has been added.
