MuseScore.org help search

• Aug 23, 2017 - 00:14

I would suggest that the help search on MuseScore.org look first at the FAQ, then the How To's, then the Tutorials then finally the forum for results. This will help users such as this https://musescore.org/en/node/246531 among many others find what they need faster then getting an answer from a fellow user. I don't mind helping others, but I would expect they would like finding the answer by searching. Currently, whenever I use the search function it starts with a list of forum posts, many of which are quite old and probably no longer applicable. I don't believe I've ever had a how to or tutorial show up in search results.

I agree; the search for instructions is often quite unsatisfactory. Except I would make the handbook priority number 1, then FAQ etc.
One could of course formalize this a bit more and have people enter the MS version for a how-to-search, then the answers could be prioritized for the version in question.

We applied changes already to push new content to the top which should be already visible now.

Meanwhile, all content is reindexed in the search engine with new boost values which are set based on type. Find the boost values below. If no boost param, then it's 0.

  • How to : 0.2
  • Book2 : 0.1
  • Tutorial : 0.1

Please check out the search engine result in 6h from now when the search engine is fully reindexed.
