can't edit text boxes or delete rests imported via midi

• Aug 25, 2017 - 01:15

hi I'm working on an urgent score - why can't I add and edit text boxes? Just want to write in the chord names above and a title and when I click and drag text options they won't stay? I'm also trying to delete some rests and accents brought in with the midi file and they will move to anywhere I drag on the page but won't delete?

Also, as Marc already mentioned on facebook, the proper way to enter chords is not to use staff text, but actual chord entry (Ctrl-K). See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/chord-symbols for more details to help you out.

There is very often no reason to actually click and drag text (god only knows what you mean by dragging text options) and often it is far easier to select the relevant text element and change its options using the Inspector (F8).
See also the relevant chapter from the handbook: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/text

As for you 'extra' rests after MIDI import; likely during import it seemed necessary to use multiple voices (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/voices). This would indeed show more rests than you'd might expect, but is actually correct notation. Most users with this "problem" usually have to manually change the notes to end up in voice 1 after which other voices can be deleted or hidden.
No way to give you the best solution if you don't attach your score (the actual .mscz file) here.
